Description
The Extreme Pro 95MB/s UHS-I U3 card may be small, but SanDisk managed to squeeze 128GB capacity into this tiny microSD card. IF that wasn’t enough, the card maximizes the potential of UHS-I with a 95MB/s read and 90MB/s write speed. The 128GB size provides enough space for hours of video or thousands of photographs, and the microSD format is compatible with a wide array of action cameras, smartphones and tablets and can be used with the included adapter in standard SD slots found in digital cameras and laptops. The card is also available in 8, 16 and 32 GB capacities. The 128GB microSDXC version is reviewed here.
To test the maximum read and write speeds the Extreme Pro 128GB microSDXC was benchmarked in several USB 3.0 card readers. It was tested in the microSD slot if a given reader had one, or in the included SD adapter if the card reader lacked the microSD slot. Testing in readers with both slots showed that the performance essentially the same; the adapter is a passive device and does not affect performance.
The 128GB Extreme Pro 95MB/s microSDXC card performed similarly to full size SD Extreme Pro SDXC card. The microSDXC card measured 99.6 MB/s sequential read and 92.4 MB/s sequential write, comfortably above the quoted speeds and about as close to the theoretical 104MB/s maximum provided by UHS-I protocol.
